What do sting bugs look like?

Brown marmorated stink bugs have triangular or shield-shaped bodies. They are usually grayish-brown and often have a mottled pattern. Adult stink bugs range from about 1/4 to 3/4 inches in length.

True to their name, stink bugs emit a foul-smelling liquid when crushed. This defense mechanism is also used intentionally to deter predators.

Native to Asia, stink bugs were accidently introduced into the United States sometime during the late 1990's, and were first collected in Allentown, PA in 1998.
